This is my final lamp design and final product! It is a lamp that you can rotate whatever way you want so you can have it facing just you paper that you are writing or you can turn it and have it light a whole area of your room. It has a cord that you can simply turn the lamp on and off and the lamp is made of acrylic plastic so it withstand a high amount of heat. I cut the triangular shapes on a laser cutter and they are 4 inches on each side. And I chose to go with this shape as the final because it had the most options on sides you can move it to and it gives the illusion that it can move and is meant to be moved because of its almost circular shape.

I stumbled upon this table an I couldn’t stop looking at the pictures of it. It is a very interesting and simple desk that doubles as a plant holder and Iv’e never seen anything like it.

These are adorable and beautifully designed toothbrushes. The color choices and the bamboo just look perfect together.

This is a clip that doubles as a scooper so when you reopen a bag of coffee grounds you can scoop i open with the clip that keeps it fresh.

These are cute little magnets that can do whatever you can put your mind to. THey can hold your phone up or keep your computer wires together.

This is a very minimalist vacuum that is just fun to look at because of all it’s rounded edges and bright color choices. They remind me of candy for some reason.

This is a table and bookshelf that is well designed and is just so simple and sophisticated at the same time and I’ve never seen one like this before.

This is a sink and faucet that tells you if the water is hot or cold or in-between. It is kind of genius because even if you turn on the cold water the water used before could’ve been hot.

These are seats or tables or bookshelves or whatever you want them to be but they all combine together and make a table.

This didn’t look like a desk lamp to me in the first or second picture but it is so simple and saves space.

This is one of my favorite lamps I’ve ever seen. The squares on the lamp look like they are moving but the light that sines through makes perfect lines constructing orderly shapes.

This is a really cool product that is a wireless digital clock that you can stick onto the wall or anything you want. The design is so simple and it just looks so beautiful up on the wall in the picture.

This is not your average alarm clock. It is a holder that holds your phone up to look like an alarm clock and it has a hole in the back for your phone to charge as well but the cool part is that the white top is a giant snooze button so when you push it it goes to your and snoozes it for you.

This is a strainer that you can cook with and leave in the pot but it allows you to cook your food in portions.

This is just a fun idea. It’s a bubble dome/ tent that you can see a outside from every spot in it. It would be awesome for a camping trip or a rainy day.

This is a fantastic product . It is a printer that uses a pencil instead of ink! Plus it allows you to erase and mistakes instead of having to completely reprint a page.

This is a very retro computer and of course it isn’t actually old but it has an old 60s-70s vibe but it is new. I love the design with the bright color and moveable screen as well as the typewriter key bored.

This is a computer mouse that you can flatten and then just pop/fold back up to fit your hand. It is something that is easy to pack and useful as well as simply designed.

This globe is different from every globe I’ve ever seen even though it has the normal places and names every globe has. But the reason I liked it is because of the stand and the simplicity of it with the white paint and the bamboo.

This is a circular bookshelf as you can see but it is just very different and the more books you have the more interesting it becomes and you can just grab a book from it and then lay in the middle of it and read. You can’t do that with many other bookshelves.

This is beautifully designed packaging. It is just a simple brown bag that holds detergent but when you open the bag the extra piece you can use as a scoop to scoop out your detergent.

This week I made full scale models so I could find the final size that I wanted for my lamp. The final size I think I am going to go with is either three inches by three inches or four inches by four inches. I also went around and asked other students and friends which shape they liked the most and half of them picked the twelve sided pentagon and the other half chose the eight sided triangular shape. But my favorite shape is the twenty sided triangular shape. I also went out and bought some one sixteenth thick white acrylic plastic to make my lamp out of and I also bought all of the interior lamp parts to make the lamp work. So hopefully in less then a week I’ll have my lamp complete!

This week I made paper and cardboard mockups of my lamp designs, so I could see what they would physically look like. It also helped my decide on what shape to go with because I had the six sided pentagon shape, the 8 sided triangle shape, the ten sided triangle shape and the twenty sided triangle shape. The mockups I made were about 1/3 scale of what the final lamp size will be.

I have been thinking of the clamp idea and the cordless idea for my lamp so I have been researching different lamps with those features so I can figure it out in my designs. I haven’t officially decided if I want to make it chord less but I am pretty sure I want to add the clamp because it seems like it could do so much more for the user. If I add the clamp I want to make it flush with the lamp so you could still just set the lamp flat on the table and not see the clamp.
